PnM Awards 2014 Early Lists: Picture & Director

Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) dan Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) tentu saja berada di posisi terdepan, namun keunggulan pada unsur teknis dan akting menyebabkan masih ada celah bagi kompetitor lain, seperti Asghar Farhadi (The Past), Bong Joon-Ho (Snowpiercer), Denis Villenueve (Prisoners), Ron Howard (Rush), bahkan Baz Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby), belum lagi menghitung kemungkinan kejutan dari David O. Russell (American Hustle). Sama halnya dengan Best Picture, dimana 12 Years a Slave, Before Midnight, The Hunt, dan Gravity berada di posisi terdepan, namun penerapan sistem interval 0.5 masih menciptakan peluang bagi film-film pilihan yang memiliki score 8.25, karena sejauh ini belum hadir film dengan score 9.
